Communication Breakdown

I've always enjoyed bringing people together to create something larger than themselves. That's the entire point of civilization, isn't it? Building. Yet the finicky nature of many of my friends makes this an exacerbating task. Miscommunication (read: no communication) causes catastrophic difficulties in even the simplest plans, and a person's lack of forward effort can be the death of community.
My band in Austin died because of communication issues. We never practiced because our drummer never picked up his phone. I'd schedule practices days ahead of time, communicate through texts, calls, and our band's little facebook group - but despite all my forward efforts I'd be lucky if my drummer contacted me once every two weeks. It got to the point where I'd drop by his house two or three times before practice and he'd still find a way to evade me.
Makes me wish I start a one man band - but I can't even stick with a single instrument long enough to master it. Luckily, I'll always have writing, an activity as solitary as mediation. Believe it or not, my dear readers, but just by glancing at this blogpost you've helped me create something outside of myself.
